Change or die: Transforming the whole organization with Sociocracy 3.0 by Àngel Garrido and Adrian Perreau de Pinninck
Voxel Group has recently earned two state awards in 2018 for the most competitive mid-sized company and, in 2019, best workplace in Spain. Before these accolades we were close to falling into the abyss. We introduced the Scaling Up! method, various scaled scrum frameworks and Sociocracy3.0* to transform the whole company both from the top-down and bottom-up.
Within our first 12 months, the team’s productivity had increased noticeably, communication had improved substantially, silos were being broken and cross-department processes were being improved collaboratively. The development teams were restructured into feature teams (ongoing), stakeholders were involved in the whole development process: quarterly plannings, kick-offs, refinement, retrospectives… We’ve undertaken these actions in a commitment toward customer centricity, and have even seen improvement in employee engagement and the recruitment process.
Thanks to all these actions, Voxel Group has become a laboratory where we are experimenting with the latest organizational practices and developing new ones. By the time you read this we will have even more to show you!
*Sociocracy3.0 is a set of patterns distilled from the Sociocratic Circle Organization Method (SCM), Agile and Lean thinking, focussing on resolving organizational needs through incremental, participatory decision-making along with novel organizational structures.
